RALLY FOR RUJA

Hi Treasure Valley Community —

My name is Collin Hartman and I am the owner of the Treasure Valley Athletic Center in Meridian. You might have been to TVAC for a youth basketball tournament, baby sensory class, summer volleyball camp, or morning Pickleball. If you haven’t been before, come stop on by!

It doesn’t feel like too long ago I was in my college dorm room at Illinois State — praying about what I was supposed to do after I graduated. I had spent most of my childhood and young adult life on a volleyball court. I was fortunate enough to be a part of some really great teams - both as a player and more recently as a coach. My faith in Jesus had brought me through some really hard times as an athlete — from injuries to abusive volleyball coaches to the death of a close teammate and personal struggles with mental health. As I was praying, I knew I wanted to combine my passion for sport and my faith to impact the world in a BIG way. Fast forward to 2021 when TVAC (formerly Idaho Soccer Center) came for sale and through a crazy long story (that I’ll save for another time) my wife and I bought the building and started a volleyball club called Idaho ONE. Over the last several years, I have been blessed to wake up every day and use my passions and giftings to impact our community here locally. Hallelujah! So much is gained through youth sport — confidence, overcoming adversity, discipline, hard work, humility, teamwork, and so much more. And now — it’s our time for us to give back in a MAJOR WAY.

Introducing: RUJA.

My friend Andrew Green is the director for Ruja, a school and medical clinic in Uganda, that helps support students in countless ways - from education to discipleship to medical care, clean water, clothes, and so much more. It was a few weeks ago during church at Hill City that I felt the Lord prompt me to reach out to Andrew to see how our platform of TVAC could help partner with RUJA and ultimately God’s kingdom. It was a short coffee meeting later that we launched the idea for a youth sports camp + silent auction this summer with 100% proceeds going to support the RUJA school. This isn’t just a regular sports camp — this camp is being led by some of the premier coaches and trainers in the Treasure Valley… see below for each sport! Together in faith— I believe we can fund Ruja for one year… but we need your help. Will you join us on this “God-sized” mission? You can collaborate in a variety of ways — register your athlete for camp (volleyball, basketball, soccer, cheer), sign up for our 3 day adult group fitness class, or donate a silent auction item that will be auctioned during camp. You can also share info about the camp to your friends and family and be praying that the word is spread and lives will be changed!
